Insight into the ingredients

The serial concept 4711 Remix Cologne

Each ingredient contained in the iconic Original Eau de Cologne is an ideal candidate for its own remix by the House of 4711. Get to know the ingredients better.

Tangy lemon, refreshing bergamot, fruity orange, calming lavender, aromatic rosemary, floral neroli and delicately bitter petitgrain all have one thing in common: They are all ingredients of the classic 4711 Original Eau de Cologne. Their fragrance also conjures up a host of images – subjective, personal feelings, associations with landscapes or situations. A deep breath of the pure essence is enough to identify its character and natural effect.

4711 freshly remixed
Over the coming years, the new 4711 Remix Cologne line of fragrances will focus on the individual ingredients and combine them with surprising nuances to form a creative remix. In 2018, the spotlight is on juicy orange..

Orange
Glorious sunshine! Pure energy! Indulgent sensuality! The scent of orange seems to sweep all your cares away. As a citrus fruit, the orange has a refreshing zestiness while at the same time creating such a warm, sweet and fruity impression that it spreads a sense of harmony and joy. The image of an orange sliced open is a symbol of juiciness and full-bodied aroma – Mother Nature at her most bountiful. So it's not surprising that this is the most frequently cultivated and consumed citrus fruit in the world. The warm colour orange also radiates creativity, strength and openness. Adios everyday stress, 2018 is the year of the orange!

Fragrance expert Alexandra Kalle, perfumier at Mäurer & Wirtz, adores the orange:

"The bitter aspect of orange peel, a hint of orange blossom and the juicy heart of the fruit, which radiates pure joie de vivre, all satisfy the fresh and lively aspirations of a summery fragrance."

The line of fragrances – a look ahead
These nuances are all contained in the iconic Eau de Cologne, making them ideal candidates for their own remix by the House of 4711:

Lemon
Externally, a lemon is a thing of beauty, inside it shows its sour side. Its fragrance exudes one quality above all: Freshness! Lemon promises vitality and new momentum, while remaining light with a subtle hint of fruitiness.

Bergamot
Close your eyes and be transported to the Mediterranean landscape of Calabria – that is the promise of the scent of bergamot. Its white blossoms captivate with a wonderfully enticing fragrance. Bergamot is not only a perfume in many fragrance compositions but also in the popular Earl Grey tea. Very nice indeed!

Lavender
The calming, relaxing and soothing scent of lavender caresses like a lilac-coloured cloud. The beauty of the fragrance conjures up images of the endless lavender fields of Provence. With a slight tang but at the same time delicate and soft – lavender is guaranteed to lift your spirits.

Rosemary
Rosemary is an intrinsic ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine. However, it is not only a treat for the taste buds, but an olfactory delight too. This herbal and aromatic fragrance stands for self-confidence, vitality and inner strength. It is therefore found in many male fragrances and is very popular with athletes.

Neroli
Neroli – what exactly is that? The essence of the flower of the bitter orange tree, also known as Seville orange. Just a few drops of neroli oil are enough to create a memorable fragrance experience, as the scent of the bitter orange blossom is intensely floral with a fresh sweetness.

Petitgrain
A fine, dry fragrance made from the leaves, twigs and unripe green fruit of the bitter orange. The tiny oil droplets from the leaves of the bitter orange tree look like little grains, hence the French term "petit grain". Voilà, c'est ça! Petitgrain acts as a natural anti-depressant, as it refreshes the spirit and has a strengthening effect on the psyche.
