Yvonne Jussen – HR Manager

How long have you been at M&W?
I've been working at M&W since 2012.

What are your specific responsibilities?
I am responsible for managing human resources, and thus shaping all strategic and operational personnel issues in the company.

What part of your role gives you particular pleasure?
Due to my professional background as a lawyer, I particularly enjoy dealing with the legal issues and matters relating to labour law that arise daily in my area of responsibility.

What does freedom mean to you?
For me, freedom is the opportunity to make things happen and to tackle changes in the company.

What's the best idea you've ever had?
There's no such thing as a single best idea. In fact, it's always better when we work together in the company to effect changes that lead to general improvement. Usually this is not the idea and effort of an individual, but rather the result of the work of an entire team.

Why do you strongly recommend working at M&W?
The atmosphere of the family business is also clearly felt in our day-to-day cooperation. We work together in a very collaborative and cross-divisional manner and seek to avoid a dog-eat-dog mentality and in-fighting.

What is your favourite fragrance? Why this one?
Acqua Colonia Pink Pepper & Grapefruit because it's fresh and also exudes a certain spiciness.

Katrin Plaßhenrich – HR Officer

How long have you been with Mäurer and Wirtz?
I've been working for Mäurer & Wirtz since 1st June 2013.

What are your specific responsibilities?
My core activity is personnel support for the departments assigned to me and the associated tasks in personnel management. This support covers the full range of services, from recruitment and hiring to support during the employment relationship up to a possible exit. I am also responsible for the development and implementation of various HR projects.

What part of your role gives you particular pleasure?
I really like getting to know a wide variety of personalities in interviews and discussing with the departments who could become part of our M&W family.

What does freedom mean to you?
For me, freedom means making my own decisions and representing them to the outside world.

What's the best idea you've ever had?
The best idea was the one I had 5 years ago when I decided to become part of the M&W family.

Why can you absolutely recommend working at Mäurer & Wirtz?
I think it's important that employees are valued as a company's most important resource. This is the case at Mäurer & Wirtz. The owner-managed, family-owned company invests in its employees, for example through a wide variety of personnel development programmes. But the social aspects are also important. For example, a three-week childcare service is offered during the summer and autumn holidays, which allows employees to reconcile work and family life.

What is your favourite fragrance? Why this one?
My current favourite is the fragrance of the Acqua Colonia series "Myrrh & Kumquat" because it radiates a balanced contrast of balsamic spice and sweet freshness.

Meike Bischof – HR Officer

How long have you been with Mäurer and Wirtz?
Since 1st December 2017.

What are your specific responsibilities?
I advise and superadvise the departments assigned to me in the following areas: Personnel planning, recruitment, personnel selection, hiring, personnel controlling, remuneration issues, cooperation with the works council, labour law (contracts, transfers, disciplinary measures, etc.)

What part of your role gives you particular pleasure?
pleasure? I'm passionate about all human resources work.

What does freedom mean to you?
To be able to develop freely in the given professional environment.

Why can you absolutely recommend working at Mäurer & Wirtz?
We are honest, authentic, friendly, open and respectful. It's a family company, pure and simple!

What is your favourite fragrance? Why this one?
Otto Kern – Never Hide For Her! This fragrance is very light and powdery. When I wear it, it always immediately makes me feel a bit better.

Jill Ben Cadi – Senior HR & Organizational Development Manager

How long have you been with Mäurer and Wirtz?
Since October 2015

What are your specific responsibilities?
All topics relating to personnel and organisational development, change management and employer branding.
This includes, for example, the design of target group-specific development programmes and the support of employees in this process, the coordination and follow-up of annual employee appraisals and the management of cultural development processes. I act as a sparring partner for company employees in exploring and implementing their development potential and opportunities, and conduct workshops on team development.
I am always ready to listen to the concerns of colleagues so that I can do the right things to further the company and its employees in their respective areas of expertise.

What part of your role gives you particular pleasure?
I have a great passion for my job! I enjoy the wide range of my work – the contact and exchange with all employees and managers, the conceptual work and the development of ideas, but also the implementation of hands-on measures.
At M&W as a medium-sized company, I have the opportunity to experience directly whether measures are taking effect and employees are making good progress. Through proximity and open exchange, I can monitor things very closely and receive direct feedback on whether something is "working out". We are not about distributing glossy brochures on management guidelines, but rather our focus is on bringing these topics to life.

What does freedom mean to you?
Bringing ideas to the company, developing things together with employees in the company. This is also the special feature of our constant cultural development – it's exciting to develop specialist topics from the HR department together with colleagues from other departments. In this way we create tools and measures that are suitable for the company – even if they are not always textbook-like.
We try things out and see if they are accepted – be it new in-house training courses in which colleagues train other colleagues, or exchange platforms that are designed to strengthen cooperative interaction.

What's the best idea you've ever had?
My best idea was to accept the offer of a job at M&W.
Ideas usually emerge together with other colleagues. That is why there's nothing I particularly wish to highlight.

Why can you absolutely recommend working at Mäurer & Wirtz?
Here you can be sure that you receive direct feedback from your colleagues/employees. You can tell straight away whether measures are having an effect.
Great cooperation – a great willingness to help! Solidarity is really important here. You will always find support when you need a professional sparring partner or someone to help out with a particular issue.

What is your favourite fragrance? Why this one?
Each year, our Acqua Colonia range introduces new fragrance components that can be worn to suit the season and current trends.
I find the 4711 Remix Cologne fragrances particularly interesting – the ingredients of the iconic 4711 Genuine Eau de Cologne are interpreted in a new way, making them very modern and refreshing. The fragrance puts you in a good mood and creates a summery feeling.
