Mäurer & Wirtz

Stephan Kemen

Chief Executive Officer

My tasks and responsibilities include...

I'm responsible for overall management of Mäurer & Wirtz together with the Wirtz familly. We define the long-term orientation of the company. I worked together with the Management Board to set our corporate goals on the basis of this framework. I am responsible for checking whether the derived strategic measures help achieve our goals and are in line with the corporate values of Mäurer & Wirtz across all areas of the company on a continuous basis as well as making decisions about how we shape our corporate action. Due to my responsibility for corporate development, I see myself as a driving force for issues that can secure and expand the success of Mäurer & Wirtz in the long term – across all departments.

To me, being involved at the management level of the family-owned company Mäurer & Wirtz means...

As a traditional family-owned company, two aspects are key for us: acting in line with the wishes of the owner family and working in close coordination with them. This means that we have a very personal corporate culture paired with short decision-making paths. As a result, we continue to be a flexible player in the market despite our expansion strategy. We can review and implement ideas comparatively quickly. In addition, we have the ability to test innovative beauty projects, especially with regard to our own brands and collaborations, thereby becoming a successful driver of innovation in the fragrance industry. Despite our future-oriented mindset, our tradition as a family-owned company also means that we stick to what we specialise in and rely on our high expertise in fragrance-based products. We know who we are and what we stand for, and we don't want to compromise our profile. Following this mantra ensures we maintain uncompromising quality standards. We know our way around the world of fragrances, can cover the entire value chain and have long-standing, proven business relationships with our suppliers – for roughly 180 years.

My vision for Mäurer & Wirtz is…

My vision is to make Mäurer & Wirtz a top 10 global player by 2030 with the strengths of a local family-owned company. This is the goal I plan to focus on. The path to achieving it is constantly changing, especially in light of the challenges facing the world at present. In this respect, establishing an entrepreneurial spirit at Mäurer & Wirtz also forms part of my vision. The input of every employee is invaluable. We aren't just a faceless corporation; we're a family-owned company. That's precisely where our strengths lie.
